Today I'd got this cake from my lovely colleague. I was really excited about this :-)
Happy Sysadmin Day Cake
That's nice, isn't it?

Have you ever tried to install a driver for the Canon iP2600 printer on Debian squeeze? Was the result that the driver can't be installed because the libcupsys2 package isn't available?

libcupsys2 was replaced by libcups in Debian lenny. So the solution is to make a dummy package.

Here are the steps which worked for me:

If you don't have equivs installed on your system, just do this now (apt-get install equivs).

Download the drivers from the Canon website (cnijfilter-common_2.90-1_i386.deb and cnijfilter-ip2600series_2.90-1_i386.deb)

Now we make the dummy package:

Run 'equivs-control libcupsys2'

Edit the result file libcupsys2 (Package: libcupsys2, Version: 2.0, Architecture: all)

Run 'equivs-build libcupsys2'

Now you have a dummy package named libcupsys2_2.0_all.deb.

Install all packages in this order:

dpkg -i libcupsys2_2.0_all.deb
dpkg -i cnijfilter-common_2.90-1_i386.deb
dpkg -i cnijfilter-ip2600series_2.90-1_i386.deb

After that turn on the printer and connect it to your computer. Debian can now install the printer automaticly.

If you have ever tried to compile the nginx webserver on a Solaris (version 5.10) system, you may have the same problems like me. It didn't worked out...

First of all, you must edit the configure script, to get it working correctly. Therefore you have to change the Shebang from /bin/sh to /usr/xpg4/bin/sh.

After that, you can execute the configure script. I've used the following parameters:

./configure --without-http_rewrite_module --with-openssl=/usr/sfw/lib --prefix=/opt/nginx

At the first execution of "make", you may get the following Message:

{standard input}: Assembler messages:
{standard input}:505: Error: Architecture mismatch on "casa".
{standard input}:505: (Requires v9|v9a|v9b; requested architecture is v8.)

If this occured, add those two parameters "-mcpu=v9 -mtune=v9" to the CFLAGS variable in the file objs/Makefile.

After that it had compiled...

The output of sar2png now shows average values in the legend of the chart...

[>] 2011-11-14 21:45:32:
Today a user of the sar2png tool wrote me, that he wants to plot network statistics with the sar2png tool. So i have implemented that feature (only for GNU/Linux). See my GitHub repository for details. You'll find it in the menu on the left...

I just removed some old twitts. If you're missing something, let me know. Of course there's a backup :-)

Here you'll find a daily updated list of Wikileaks Mirrors: http://www.trullowitsch.de/wikileaks/mirrors.txt

[>] 2010-12-12 15:31:43:
http://www.trullowitsch.de/wikileaks/ will redirect you to a random Wikileaks Mirror.

I've written a Perl script which returns either a working random wikileaks mirror or a complete list of working mirrors.

Download it here:
https://github.com/sqrt529/wikileaks-random-mirror

To redirect your users, you can use this php code:

$mirror = shell_exec('/path/to/wikileaks-mirror.pl -r');
header ('Loation: ".$mirror);

Options:

-l (print mirrorlist to stdout)
-lo outfile (print mirrorlist to file)
-r (print random mirror from wikileaks website)
-ri infile (print random mirror from file)

Because I'm a git user, I've just made the first commit to GitHub. You can follow some of my coding projects there.

At the time of writing, there's only one repository. Others will follow as soon as possible... or later... or someday :-)

New tool available: sar2png, a line chart generator which uses the data from sar output.
It's a replace for sar-stats which i've formerly released (I have rewritten it from scratch).

Get it on my GitHub repository. It's Perl software and licenced under the terms of the GNU GPL 3.
